Scarab Cobra Cult Ring

In ancient Egypt, the scarab was viewed as a sign of eternal renewal and re-emergence of life, a reminder of the life to come. The sun god Ra was seen to roll across the sky each day, transforming bodies and souls. Beetles of the scarabaeidae family roll dung into a ball as food and as a brood chamber in which to lay eggs; this way, the larvae hatch and are immediately surrounded by food. For these reasons the scarab was seen as a symbol of this heavenly cycle and of the idea of rebirth or regeneration.

In funerary works, the cobra was often depicted spitting fire. Two cobras doing just that were said to guard the gates of every hour of the underworld. A rearing cobra, hood flared, ready to strike, was also drawn and sculpted as an image called a ‘uraeus’, which refers to protection.

The Cobra Cult ring draws on these ancient images and ideals of regeneration and protection. 20mm in length and 15mm wide, this is a large and solid unisex ring, that will be made to your desired size in solid silver or 9ct yellow, white or red gold.

The Scarab Cobra Cult ring is also available in a two tone metal - A solid silver scarab ring with 9ct gold flanking cobras.
